Roatan's Deep Diving Submersible "Idabel", designed and built by Karl Stanley, is the most exciting shore excursion or tour you will find almost anyplace in the world. Idabel will take you further into the Western Caribbean's vibrant depths than most people will ever go-- depths up to 2,000 feet in our well-lit undersea vehicle; our large plexiglass viewing bubble allows you to see a rare variety of underwater life never seen at Scuba Diving depths.

1000ft - 1 1/2 Hours - $600.00 USD
We explore the second wall which drops between 200- 700 feet, and the base of it where huge boulders have fallen. At 1000 ft we can often see over 200 feet horizontally, with only natural light. Animals encountered include sea lillies, glass sponges, pom-pom anenomes, and lace coral.

1500ft - 2 1/2 Hours - $800.00 USD
We spend an entire extra hour picking along the boulder fields at the base of the wall. Cat sharks and two types of lobster are commonly spotted. Doing this dive in the evening increases the chance of see more bizarre creatures, coming from deeper water to feed.

2000ft - 3 1/2 Hours - $1000.00 USD
We have finally made it to the land of perpetual darkness. This region of the ocean covers more than half the planet, and have never known daylight, nor seasons. Many of the creatures date back before the dinosaurs. Fish encountered include jelly-nosed eels, rough sharks, and chimera.

6 Gilled Shark Dive
1500+ft - 4 - 8 Hours - $1500.00 USD
For this special adventure, we leave after dinner and with bait attached to the front of the sub. We find a suitable ledge below 1500 feet and lay in wait for the enormous 6-gilled sharks to appear. These sharks are one of the most prehistoric shark species, and can grow to 20ft. A shark sighting is guaranteed, if not we go again. Waits can be up to 3 hours.
